Over time, many existing boreholes fall into disrepair due to lack of maintenance, equipment failure, or natural wear and tear. In other cases, boreholes may have been drilled but never fully equipped due to financial or logistical constraints.

his project aims to address these issues by renovating non-functional or partially functional boreholes and equipping new or existing boreholes with the necessary infrastructure to ensure year-round access to safe water. This includes installing or replacing submersible pumps, constructing protective headworks, installing solar pumping systems or hand pumps where appropriate, and ensuring proper drainage and fencing to protect the water source.
Site Assessment & Technical Survey Evaluate the condition of the existing borehole. Test water quality and yield. Determine appropriate equipping method .
Water Storage and Distribution Setup Install elevated storage tanks where applicable. Connect water points, taps, or communal kiosks.
Community Engagement and Training Form or strengthen water user committees. Train local caretakers on operation and maintenance.
Installation of Pumping System Install or replace submersible, solar, or hand pumps. Set up control panels, cables, and other electrical components if needed.
Solar System Installation (if applicable) Mount solar panels and connect to pump system. Install charge controllers and batteries if needed.
Borehole Cleaning and Rehabilitation Remove debris or silt buildup. Re-case or repair damaged borehole structures. Conduct flushing and disinfection.
